Ascent to Slavkovský štít

We leave Starý Smokovec from the parking lot to the village center, where there is a signpost and a blue sign leading to the top. At first, it goes nicely uphill along the footpath, then the ascent gains strength. We pass the signpost on the main road and continue through the forest to Slavkovská vyhlídka. Here the forest turns into cypress trees and the first views begin. From the viewpoint, a slope falls into the Great Cold Valley, you can see Rainer's Cottage, the Great Waterfall, cut into the rock and Lomnický štít dominating the entire view. From the vantage point, we continue further along the ridge of the mountain in serpentines and the terrain gradually changes into grassy and then completely rocky. The process seems endless, given that each peak in front of us appears to be the main peak, it is waiting for us much further and you can really see from the point called Slavkovský nos, when we see what else awaits us. We walk along a stone sidewalk to the saddle below the top, a large climb moves us up and down the rubble, we overcome a short ridge and the cross at the top tells us that we are at the finish line. The views are really great, for the whole Tatras and the valley. The most beautiful view is probably on the Great Cold Valley with Zbojnická chata below us. The descent is identical with the ascent path along the entire length, it does not lead to other paths.
