Jaňací štít 2230m is located at the easternmost point of the High Tatras, only the Belianske Tatras connect. It is one of the traditional hike to the peaks, where the route leads through the valley, passes through Chata Pri Zelenom Plese and climbs over stones and chains to get to the top by a short path. This part of the Tatras seems to me the most beautiful, high peaks are cut here, cut into a valley that turns into the grassy mountains of the Belianske Tatras.

Route description

We leave the car park in Tatranská Lomnica in the direction of the Grand Hotel Praha, then follow the yellow sign around the Hutník hotel complexes to connect to the blue sign, which rises slightly to the bridge, crosses it to the crossroads of Šalvio's spring and changes the sign to yellow. Again, we gradually ascend to the valley of Zelený ples. As we exit the forest, we have a view like from a fairy tale of the surrounding mountain peaks. After a while, Chata Pri Zelenom Plese shows where we are staying. We continue behind the cottage along the yellow sign, which rises sharply to get above the cypress tree. The view of the peak, which was hidden all the time, opened up to us. We continue further until we start to climb again to the passage with chains. They will take us to the ridge and we continue along the narrow sidewalk to the top. There is plenty of space at the top, there are also built stone walls for bivouacs. The sun is setting and the landscape is beginning to play an incredible theater of light and shadow. We pack slowly and prepare to descend. We come to the cottage in the light of people.
