I would like to take you on a three-day hike in the High Tatras. If you have seen a tourist map, there are many places to see and each one is something wonderful, so I recommend a few days stay, especially if you are traveling for the first time. The experience is worth it :)

Day 1 - Ascent to a rocky lake

After arriving in Tatranská lomnice, we are offered several options to get to the rocky lake. The easiest and fastest way is the cable car. Another option is either along the green path, which is half asphalt and therefore quite frequented by cyclists, or along the blue. We choose blue because it offers more adventure and beautiful nature. From this place, see the photo below, we have before us a 5 hour path and 900 altitude meters.

Waterfalls by a cold stream

After about two hours of travel and 360 meters of altitude, we have the opportunity to refresh ourselves. The waterfalls are beautiful, they even have their own observation deck.

Beautiful views from the Tatra highway

At the crossroads above Reiner's cottage, we connect them to the red one, which is referred to as the Tatra highway, it is the longest continuous path leading across the High Tatras.

Rocky lake

After about two hours and a quarter, we are at the finish line for today. In good weather, we can take the cable car to Lomnický štít (top left), the second highest peak in the High Tatras and Slovakia. Skalnaté pleso also offers accommodation in the Encián hotel, where we will stay for two nights.

Overnight in the Encián hut

If you decide to sleep here, you will enjoy really nice views directly from the bedroom.

Day 2 - All day hiking

Awakening like in heaven :) .. fortunately not literally. With a cup of good coffee, such a view is nicely enjoyed. The weather is good for today, so let's take advantage. So what awaits us: we will go along the Tatra highway to the crossroads at Zamkovský chata, where we will connect to the green and Malá studená dolina walk to Tery's chata, there we will go along the yellow road across Priečné sedlo to Zbojnický chata and then along the blue Velká studená dolina to crossroads above Reiner's cottage, where we connect to the Tatra highway back to Skalnate pleso.

Waking up a small cold valley

About half of the green trail through the Little Cold Valley is through green vegetation and beautiful views open up here … after that the road turns into a rocky one, where the most challenging section is a few tens of meters in front of Tery's cottage, but the road is nicely marked and can handle nicely.

Tery's cottage

About three hours from Skalnate pleso, we are at Tery's cottage. As a reward, we have a beautiful view of the entire Little Cold Valley, which we went. It's also time to put something on your tooth, from my experience I can recommend sweet dumplings, which are really great here! Not far from the cottage there is also a small Spiš lake, which is a beautiful mirror, if it is not windy.

The beginning of the journey to Priečné sedlo

The trail to Priečné sedlo will test your courage, chains will start here, then risers will be added and there will also be a terrifying view of the abyss downwards.

Transverse saddle

The reward for overcoming the Transverse Saddle is wonderful, the views are really worth it .. it's just a pity when it comes to more people, so you can't stay there for long, because there isn't much space there. The photo below shows a small Tery's cottage and on the other side you can see the Zbojnická cottage, another destination.

Zbojnického cottage

About 2 hours and 45 minutes from Tery's cottage we have another stop in Zbojnický chata. The descent from the Transverse Saddle was difficult, and then the rest of the way was already carried by a slight descent along a stony yellow path.

Way back through the Great Cold Valley

This is a relaxing way down the blue trail with beautiful views, about 1:15 to the crossroads above Reiner's cottage and from there 2:17 along the red to Skalnate pleso.

Day 3 - Tatranská Lomnica train station

The weather in the High Tatras can change quickly, so it is important to carefully monitor the weather forecast and arrange yourself accordingly. In the worst case, you can take a cable car from Skalnate pleso to Tatrasnká Lomnica or you can take the green trail, the journey takes about an hour and a half.
