Coma Pedrosa is the highest peak of the Principality of Andorra at 2,942 meters above sea level. At the ascent you will find almost 1,500 meters of altitude and a path around a mountain lake. The views from the top are absolutely great.

Autumn ascent to Coma Pedrosa

Andorra in autumn colors

We decided to conquer the top of the highest mountain of the Principality of Andorra in the autumn, specifically at the beginning of October, when, thanks to the beautiful weather, we had a view of the entire mountainous Andorra in autumn-painted colors. We started the hike in the parking lot at 1,560 m above sea level and continued slowly along the tourist marked path. At first, the road led through the forest, gradually the vegetation thinned and about halfway through the road it turns into a dirt path to the top. Road markings are not everywhere, so it comes in handy to have a tourist map downloaded on your mobile phone or GPS navigation, in case no one is going around. In the off-season we did not meet a tourist on the mountain much, so we could enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains all around.

Morning misty valley

It pays to get up in the morning. The views from the serpentines that interweave Andorra are enchanting.

The beginning of the route leading through the forest

The path begins in the forest and leads through the wind, crossing the rivers falling here and there into the valleys.

Autumn-colored scenery on the way up

In autumn, it is no longer so warm, which is suitable for hiking. If the weather is as good as we are, then the valley plays with all the colors of autumn.

View from the top to the valley

From the top, the views in all directions are really amazing. With good visibility you can see down to the valley leading to the capital of Andorra la Vella.

Prospects

On the other side from the top is a view of other alpine lakes such as Estany de Baiau in the photo and more. Because the mountain is located on the border with the Spanish Pyrenees, it provides a great view of them.
