A trip to the district of cave dwellings

From the castle there are nice views of the entire southern part of the city – a district with cave dwellings. That's where we go on a tour.

There are a number of options for where to go – the alleys branch in all directions. However, the closer you are to the tuff ridge, the more interesting the scenery. The chimneys that rise from the ground are interesting – an unmistakable sign that there is a cave dwelling under them.

No matter how you walk around this area, be sure to visit the most beautiful view here – Mirador Virgen de Fátima. The views from here are breathtaking.

The whole neighborhood is built in rounded hills of tuff. These dwellings can be found not only here in Guadix, but also in several other places in its vicinity.

From the viewpoint there is also the most beautiful view of the castle, the cathedral, but also other tuff ridges further north of the city.

Almost the entire neighborhood is still alive, full of inhabitants. Part of the cave dwellings is converted into beautiful stylish „guesthouses“, part is ordinary and the last part is unfortunately already desolate, often inhabited by unadaptable citizens.

The ridge of the Sierra Nevada, lying under the snow for almost half a year, can also be seen from the viewpoint.

Reconstructed cave dwellings look very picturesque. It is not a problem to arrange accommodation in some of them if you want to start an unusual experience.

When you return to the modern part of Guadix, you will see the viewpoint of the Virgen de Fátima on the horizon, from which you enjoyed the magnificent views a while ago.
