A tour of the Drábská světnička rock castle is not exactly intended for those who have problems with steep stairs carved into the rock or looking into the depths. However, the others will definitely like it very much. In addition to interesting rock towers with carved rooms, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Jizera Valley and distant Ještěd.

At a crossroads

The small wooden gate to the rock castle is always quite lively on weekends and in summer. Not only does this, together with Valečov, attract the biggest attraction of the Příhrazské rocks, but there is also a crossroads of tourist routes. So if you want to enjoy the rooms at least in relative peace, you have to go here on a weekday.

Drábské světničky are actually just a large sandstone massif. From the crossroads you can see how high you will have to climb

Entrance to Drábské světničky

A steep staircase awaits you behind the gate, where you will have a hard time avoiding it until a small „crossroads“. Admission to the castle is free

Crossroads in Drábské světničky

From the crossroads, three paths lead directly to the individual rock massifs. It is best to start the tour on the right where you go to the highest point and the best view.

From the highest perspective

If you turn right from the „crossroads“, then another staircase awaits you to the highest point of the entire Drábské světničky. There is not much space here, so on weekends it is quite „tight“ on this prospect. In any case, it is probably the most classic view of the tower jutting the most into the region

View of Ještěd

Directly below you is the wide valley of the Jizera. The northern horizon is dominated by the Ještěd ridge with the highest ** Ještěd **.

View of Žabakor

The R10 expressway winds its way through the valley and the largest pond in the Bohemian Paradise – Žabakor – protrudes from behind the rocks. The pond is a popular nesting ground for birds. The Jizera Mountains can be seen far on the horizon.

Bridge between rocks

If you continue the tour in a clockwise direction, you will have to cross the bridge to the second rock tower. It is not at all unusual to see climbers here on nice days.

Looking back at the viewpoint

From the bridge it is nice to see that the highest view is really shabby. It would certainly have to be very interesting to see it here in its original state, even with those wooden buildings.

Leaning rock tower

From the second viewing platform there is a nice view of the alpine, but a slightly sloping rock tower. In autumn, when the weather is right, you can also admire the golden-colored treetops under you.

Drábské světničky

From the viewing platform, stairs lead down to a crossroads, from where you can still climb the third tower or meet back to the wooden gate and leave this interesting place.
