A tour of Mnichovo Hradiště Castle

The last resting place of Albrecht of Wallenstein

Rating:
| Altitude: 240 m / 787 ft

Mnichovo Hradiště Castle is one of our rarest castles. Originally a Renaissance chateau, Václav Budovec from Budova had it built here. After the Battle of White Mountain, however, his property, including the castle, passed to Albrecht of Wallenstein. The chateau was owned by the Wallensteins until 1946. At the end of the 17th century, the chateau acquired its current Baroque appearance. Now the castle is a state and we can visit three sightseeing tours. continue reading

Hike Mnichovo Hradiště - Mohelnice n. Jizerou

Hike through Káčov

Although the biggest magnets around Mnichovo Hradiště are the famous Drábské světničky, the best hike directly from the town leads to Mohelnice nad Jizerou around the beautiful chateau, over the Káčov hill with an interesting rock formation and over the remains of the Zásadka chateau to the Jizera. continue reading

3.
Hike Mohelnice nad Jizerou - Monastery

A comfortable hike along the Jizera

Altitude: 226 m / 741 ft

The hike from Mohelnice to Klášter and further in the direction of Mnichovo Hradiště leads along the Jizera along the blue tourist route. It is a very comfortable path with only one climb in the second part of this march. It is mostly part of the classic circuit from Mnichovo Hradiště via Káčov and back or a long march from Ještěd continue reading

4.
A tour of the Hradiště nad Jizerou Monastery

The headquarters of the Klášter brewery

Altitude: 253 m / 830 ft

Hradiště nad Jizerou Monastery is a small village just two kilometers west of Munich Hradiště. Basically, the only attraction is the local brewery, so brewers go here for a trip rather than ordinary tourists. There are three tourist routes here, so it is more here for a shorter stop on the longer tourist circuit Pojizeřím than for the actual destination of the trip. continue reading
