Příhrazské skály is famous mainly for Drábské světničky, but there is much more to see. If you do not want to do a classic sightseeing tour, but just a little lighter, this trip is ideal, where you will see practically everything essential and the most famous in the area. Count on the fact that thanks to the proximity of the highway connecting Prague with Liberec, there are plenty of visitors on nice days and weekends

Itinerary of a trip to Příhrazské rocks

  • Valečov: The first stop on this trip is a tour of the rock castle Valečov. Nice views from the castle and its interesting location on a sandstone rock are worth seeing – Mužský: from Valečov you will drive a little further and leave the car directly below the top of the highest point of the Příhrazské rocks – Mužský hill in a small parking lot. From the top there are really amazing views far and wide. – Drábské světničky: It is only a few hundred meters from Mužský to the Na Krásné vyhlídce restaurant, which is also a crossroads of tourist routes. Here it is possible to refresh yourself and then go on a short march to Drábské světničky, less than 1.5 km in one direction

A tour of Valečov and its surroundings

Rock castle and rooms

Rating:
| Altitude: 320 m / 1 050 ft

One of the most interesting places to visit in Příhrazské skaly is the ruins of the rock castle Valečov. Apart from a nice castle with lots of tunnels in the rock massif and nice views to the south in the direction of Mnichovo Hradiště, you can experience a small adventure while exploring the surrounding rock rooms, so typical of the Bohemian Paradise. Thanks to this, this place is very popular even for families with small children, who are definitely not bored here. continue reading

Ascent to the highest peak of Příhrazské rocks

Altitude: 437 m / 1 434 ft

The Mužský hill (463 m above sea level) is the highest point of the Příhrazské rocks. Up close, it is just an indistinct volcanic peak towering over the plateau, which is surrounded by rocky sandstone massifs. From the top there is a beautiful view of the Bohemian Paradise, the Giant Mountains, as well as the Macha region, Kokořínsko or Lužické mountains. You can get here along a cabbage hiking trail leading parallel to the road or stop at a small parking lot directly below the hill and then you are waiting for less than 300 meters to the top continue reading

Beautiful views from the rock castle

Rating:
| Altitude: 375 m / 1 230 ft

A tour of the Drábská světnička rock castle is not exactly intended for those who have problems with steep stairs carved into the rock or looking into the depths. However, the others will definitely like it very much. In addition to interesting rock towers with carved rooms, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Jizera Valley and distant Ještěd. continue reading

Visit to Mnichovo Hradiště chateau

A tour of Mnichovo Hradiště Castle

The last resting place of Albrecht of Wallenstein

Rating:
| Altitude: 240 m / 787 ft

Mnichovo Hradiště Castle is one of our rarest castles. Originally a Renaissance chateau, Václav Budovec from Budova had it built here. After the Battle of White Mountain, however, his property, including the castle, passed to Albrecht of Wallenstein. The chateau was owned by the Wallensteins until 1946. At the end of the 17th century, the chateau acquired its current Baroque appearance. Now the castle is a state and we can visit three sightseeing tours. continue reading
