The Western Tatras are located both in Slovakia and in Poland and thus fall into two national parks – Tatra National Park and Tatrzański Park Narodowy. The highest peak is Bystrá (2,248m above sea level). The most popular part of the mountain range is Roháče with its sharp rock ridges, where the highest peak is Baranec (2,184m above sea level).
