Shield in the middle of the mountains
Koprovský štít 2363m is located in the heart of the High Tatras. The views are of the surrounding peaks and valleys and one can feel like in the middle of a rocky wilderness. Thanks to the fact that the road is a turnoff to Rysy, where there is also a cottage of the same name, it is not so frequented. On the way I walk around the Great Hincov Lake, the largest lake in the Tatras.
Route description
Thanks to the accommodation at Popradský pleso, I leave in the morning following the blue sign. I cross the turnoff to Rysy and continue on serpentines to such an elevation that the road continues up to Hincovový pleso, which is the largest in the Tatras. After a long break, I go out to Koprovské sedlo, where serpentines are waiting for me on a steep hill. From the saddle, it looks like the top is within reach, but I'll walk along the ridge for a while before reaching the top point. The peak is not very big, but there aren't many people here either, so I can enjoy the landscape for a while. The descent is the same to the Poprad Ball. For more able tourists, it is possible to complete the route from Štrbské pleso, where there is a car park.
