Volcano Uturuncu has two peaks and the main peak has slightly over six thousand meters above sea level. According to the maps 6 008 m asl, according to GPS 6 025 m asl. The east peak (5 930 m asl) is only slightly smaller. It is one of the few places in the world, where you get above six thousand meters above sea level easily by hiking. In addition, the ascent is made easier by a small road leading up to the pass (5 750 m asl) between the two peaks, where once used to be a small mine for sulfur. This route also belongs among the highest roads in the world.
