The most famous lake in South America
This fabulous lake is situated at an altitude of 3 820 meters above sea level. It is often stated as the highest navigable lake in the world. With its area of 8549 square kilometers it is also the second largest lake in South America. There are 36 islands and it has a clear blue colored water. It is actually a remnant of an ancient sea that once covered almost entire Altiplano.
