The largest Austrian mountain valley is the Inntal. The mighty Inn River originates in Switzerland, not far from the 4,000-meter Piz Bernina mountain. The most important city in the valley is Innsbruck. To the north of the river are the limestone Alps and to the south is the main Alpine ridge. The valley of the Inn River is the starting point for example to the Ötztal, Stubai and Zillertal Alps.
