As a very mountainous island, Kefalonia offers many wonderful places. Most tourists come here because of the beautiful beaches here, which are among the most beautiful in all of Greece. Myrtos Beach

The most beautiful beach on Kefalonia

Altitude: 3 m / 10 ft

On the northern coast of Kefalonia you will find Myrtos beach – by far the most famous beach of the island and one of the most beautiful in all of Greece. A winding road with several nice viewpoints leads to the beach itself. However, the most famous view is from the road to Assos, from a height of approx. 320 meters above sea level. On the west coast of Kefalonia you will find one of the most beautiful beaches of the entire island – Petani. You will ride it on a road with ten turns. The beach is located in a really beautiful bay. The center of the beach is organized. The most famous natural attraction on Kefalonia

Melissani Cave or Melissani Lake is probably the most interesting natural phenomenon on Kefalonia. It is actually a gigantic cave that a tree has partially fallen into and its bottom is flooded, so that a picturesque lake has formed. You can find it not far from the town of Sami. There is a large parking lot (free) and a tunnel takes you to the boat „dock“ from where you can take a short cruise on this lake. continue reading

Assos is undoubtedly the most picturesque town on Kefalonia. It lies in an amazing position between high mountains and a peninsula with a castle, from which the view is amazing. The town itself has its own beach. The problem here is with parking, where it is almost impossible to find a place right in the town. The Drogarati Caves are among the largest caves in Greece. Not that it is that extensive, but it boasts a gigantic dome that is strewn with stalactites. Concerts are even held here. Fiskardo is a small town at the very northern end of Kefalonia. Here you will find a picturesque port with taverns, a church, a Roman cemetery and a small beach. On Kefalonia, you will not only find amazing beaches with white pebbles and azure blue water, but also those with dark sand and waves. Such is Mouda (or Kaminia, depending on which part of the beach you are on). It's quite windy here, but from here you can go all the way to the very southeast end of the island.
