Amazing orange desert Wadi Rum is somewhat unjustly in the shadow of Jordan's largest tourist magnet – rock town Petra. For travelers with a romantic soul and admirers of fabulous rock formations, bridges and massive dolomitic peaks, however, it is even more attractive place than crowded Petra. Some people come here only for a few hours, but if you want to enjoy this place sufficiently, you need at least an additional day and night, but much better are two days.
1st day in Wadi Rum

The tour around Wadi Rum starts at the visitor center (where the entrance fee is paid and you can obtain here quite nice map of the area). It's only about an hour away from Aqaba. From there you can get to the village either by jeep or you can walk.
After that usually awaits you tea with the family you bought your tour from. The tour begins with the attractions around the village and so it is accessible also by foot, making it suitable even for those who have not ordered any organized tour. These attractions include the ruins of Nabatean temple and pleasant walk to Lawrence's spring.
