In the southwest of Uganda you will find the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi (1,948 m above sea level). According to some sources, it is said to be up to 900 meters deep. The lake is best reached from the town of Kabale, only about ten kilometers away. There are many islands on the lake that can be explored by boat

Road to Lake Bunyonyi

The easiest way to get to the lake from Kabbalah is to arrange a taxi. The road leads over a flat ridge, about 2,100 meters above sea level, from where there is the first view of the lake. It greeted us with quite a thick fog

Arranging a cruise on the lake

There are several resorts around the lake where you can spend pleasant days in this beautiful surroundings. A taxi driver drove us in front of one of them, where they offered an hour-long ride on the lake for a rather exorbitant rate. Just take a walk around the area and you will immediately get a better offer for a cruise on the lake

Sailing on the lake

A cruise on the lake is definitely worth it. We can watch not only the beautiful surrounding landscape, but also the life of the locals, which has not changed much. In addition, with increasing time, the fog tears and is beautiful

We land at one of the islands on the lake and go for a walk to the abandoned church at the top. We also have a short musical insert

Walk around the island

The cruise is pleasantly complemented by a short walk around the island with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside

Life on the shores of the lake

The shores of the lake are fertile, so people here live hard work on small terraced fields

Lake view

From the lake we continue to the town of Kisoro, about 60 km away. We arranged with a taxi driver who was waiting for us before we drove along the lake, because otherwise it would be difficult to get there. The road is absolutely great leading high in the hills, almost up to 2,300 meters above sea level and the views of the lake are great. The only pity is that the weather is not completely photogenic

Riding around Lake Bunyonyi

Those about 20 kilometers driving along and above the lake was perhaps the best experience in the end. This would be a great bike ride
