They want there:

Sarangkot (1 560 m asl) is a small village and at the same time the most popular lookout of Annapurnas lying on a hill just 10 km from Pokhara. Even during the deep darkness depart crowds of cars from Pokhara with tourists looking forward for the sunrise. It is even much busier at the parking place and also a lot of pseudo-guides offering you their services not to get lost. As more uphill leads only one way, which is lined with small houses with outlook terraces, their services are completely unnecessary. You then just need wait – possibly with hot tea – for the sunrise.

Ridges to the east

During long waiting for sunrise you will be constantly watching the ridge on the east, until the sun goes over them and warms the surrounding landscape a little.

Annapurna South and Annapurna I

Finally there is some light at the top of Annapurna I, Annapurna South and other mountains on the ridge. It is a pity that they are more than 40 kilometers away as the crow flies. The most beautiful mountain in the view is, however, Machu Puchare (see the introductory slide of the photoreport).

Sunrise

The sun is finally getting over ridges and a new day begins.

Ridge as a barrier

This view makes clear why is the entire area of Manang lying in rain shadow – there are not many clouds that would overcome such a high ridge.

Valley of the River Seti

After daybreak you can clearly see the wide and fertile valley of river Seti with all Annapurnas on the horizon.

After an hour, the whole theater ends and tourists are slowly returning to Pokhara for breakfast or to continue with sleeping.
