The way through rhododendron misty forests to Tadapani possibly up to Ghandruk works mainly as a shortcut between Poon Hill and trekking trail to Annapurna base camp. You will enjoy here the views of the mountains mostly early in the morning, before the landscape veils into the misty clouds. But the views during the sunrise, however, are in Ghnadruk and Tadapani renowned. Walking this way is relatively demanding – you can expect frequent ascents and descents over muddy paths and endless staircases.

The outlook from Deurali

If you got early in the morning for the great sunrise at Poon Hill, you may not want even after a few hours to set off for this challenging stage to Tadapani, respectively Ghandruk. The way from Ghorapani rises most of the time along very wet path through the forest up to the pass Deurali, which is finally a grassy place with a view, of course, if the weather permits.

Descent from Ban Thanti

The way from meadow Deurali gets again into the forest and ends in approx. (3 185 m asl). It then falls to Ban Thanti (3 110 m asl), where you can relax before an unpleasant stage – a long steep descent along the muddy trail along the creek. You can see here only a few small waterfalls.

The outlook of Bhurungdi khola

Finally, after descending 500 vertical meters opens a view of the valley of Bhurungdi khola overgrown with high mountain jungle. There is also the possibility to stay overnight or have refreshment.

High mountain jungle

From the outlook point it's not far to the stream. After you overcome it, then awaits you fortunately only the final ascent to Tadapani. Around you is a dense high mountain jungle.

The descent to Ghandruk

You have several options after the arrival to Tadapani:

  • If you are already tired, you can stay here overnight and enjoy the renowned sunrise over Annapurna South and Machhapuchhare the next day.
  • Or you can run down 700 meters of altitude through the endless forest to Ghandruk and close Poon Hill trek the next day.
  • Alternatively, you can continue on in the direction of Annapurna BC trek, if you have it in your plan.
