The Nehyeaal Danda mountain ridge south of Pokhara offers distinctive villages with beautiful rice terraced fields and a minimum of tourists. In clear weather, there is a nice view of the Annapurna ridge. A simpler version of the march starts at the World Peace Pagoda (1,095 m above sea level), where you can take a taxi and save 300 meters of ascent.

At the World Peace Pagoda

This tour starts at the nice World Peace Pagoda, where any taxi driver from Pokhara will take you.

View from the pagoda

From the pagoda there is a great view of both the Pokhara and Lake Phewa and the Annapuren ridge. Behind the lake is the Sarangkot ridge, which is an even more famous viewpoint.

Machapuchare

The most beautiful landmark is of course Machapuchare – Fish tail

Nehyeaal Danda ridge

The Nehyeaal Danda ridge is still rising relatively slowly from the pagoda. The highest point is about 450 meters above the start of the tour.

View back to the Pagoda

From the pagoda, continue west along the ridge. Always try to stay on the path that does not fall anywhere. After more than half an hour of marching, you will have a nice view of the pagoda in the distance.

View over rice fields

The journey passes pleasantly and you can enjoy the views of the endless amphitheaters of rice fields. The highest mountain on the horizon is only about two thousand meters above sea level.

In Kabre

After almost three hours of walking, you have a nice portion of kilometers along the ridge and you are just below the highest peak in the area. Looking back, you can see the small villages you have already passed through.

Picturesque village

A smaller walk is the ascent to the top of a flat hill with a picturesque village. From the hill there is a nice view into the depth 800 meters below.

Water buffalo

In addition to rice fields and local farmers on this tour, you can also meet water buffaloes as they enjoy in small ponds.

On foot between the buildings

From the village on the hill, take the narrow path before connecting to the main trail. On this tour you will fully enjoy the Nepalese countryside.

View from the crossroads

Now you are basically only waiting for a long descent. After half an hour you will reach a crossroads. Each of the paths descends along a different ridge. The road further west leads to the village of Ghatchhina (the hike from Ghatchhina in the opposite direction is described HERE). We head east straight down to Lake Phewa.

Excellent views of the rice terraces

The views of the rice terraces are really excellent at the end of this tour!

Rice amphitheater

The rice amphitheater that opens in front of you is really impressive. An alternative descent to Ghatchhina leads through the villages on the other side of the amphitheater

The last rice village

In front of you is the last village by the rice fields and from it a steeper descent through the forest to the bottom of the valley awaits you.

Settlement by the river

Directly below the forest by the river, there is a poorer settlement at first sight

Ford across the river

There is an even more adventurous passage in front of you – you have to cross the river (in case the bridge is torn down).

Return to Pokhara

If you do not stop by bus or taxi, there will be about 10 kilometers to Pokhara waiting for you. The road along the lake is nice, see. [https://www.gigaplaces.com/…ezera-phewa/]
