The second stop of the off-road trip along the southern coast of Boa Vista is a stop in Turtle Bay. That is, a ride along the rocky, jagged coast, as an interesting change from the endless sandy beaches here. If you are a little lucky, you will really see a turtle or a small shark.

Areia Hill (156 m)

The road leads, by local standards, along the prominent hill Morro de Areia (156 m). The landscape is semi-desert.

End of the plain

The semi-desert plain ends with a cliff several meters high into which sea waves bite and shape the local rock formations.

Black volcanic beaches

There are also beaches here in Turtle Bay – unlike the famous ones with golden sand, these are made of black volcanic pebbles and you probably can't swim here – but it looks nice.

Rock Gate

But the most interesting thing here are the rock formations. There is a gigantic rock gate. What was strange, however, was that our off-road vehicles stopped about a hundred meters away and no one told us about the gate. If we hadn't taken a walk along the coast, we wouldn't have seen it.
