Hike to the views of the Giant Mountains
Spálov is a small village located on the famous tourist circuit leading from Semily along the Rieger Trail and back along Kamenický a little higher above the Jizera canyon. However, it is also interesting to go back to Semily through the „peak“ with lots of beautiful views of the Giant Mountains and the surroundings of Bozkov.
Spálov
Spálov is a village on a plateau high above the river Jizera with nice views of the surroundings. Most tourists come here along the blue tourist route. From here we follow the direction of Myší skála
Mouse rock
It is about 600 meters from Spálov to Mouse Rock. Here we leave the blue tourist sign, which is also followed by the beautiful „Kamenického stezka“: https: //www.gigaplaces.com/clanek-tura-kamenickeho-stezkou/, we climb the footpath upwards from the forest to the meadow
Amazing cityscape
After you come out of the forest, a wonderful panorama will open up towards Černá Studnice. Further west is Ještěd
View of Bozkov and the Giant Mountains
Following the footpath, you will reach a narrow path connecting Spálov with Janeček. From here there is a beautiful view of the „other“ side in the direction of Bozkov and the Giant Mountains on the horizon
Janecek
In Janeček, you will connect not only again to the blue tourist trail, but also to a slightly wider road, where there is almost no traffic.
View of Semily
Behind Janeček, a view of the tops of the tallest buildings in Semily, hidden deep below the Jizera, opens up. The horizon is ditched by the Kozakov ridge
View back to Medenec
The tourist route leaves the road for a while and when you look back you can see Medenec (544 m above sea level), the highest peak in the area.
Region around Bozkov
In these places, there is probably the most beautiful view of the landscape around Bozkov and the Giant Mountains on the horizon
View of the Factory 1861
The largest former textile factory in the region can also be seen through the wires of the power line – Fabrika 1861, located near Jizera
Masaryk's prospect
Masaryk's lookout is a place with several benches and stone stelae, but as a view it is worse than the previous places
Sejkor Chapel
Sejkorská chapel is located at the intersection with road 288, so it's quite busy. Here, the tour can be shortened and run down the yellow trail to Semily. However, we will continue further along the green in the direction of Nouzov
Cimbalom
It is just a short walk from the village of Cimbál from the Sejkor Chapel. Unfortunately, the road joins road 289 here, where it is quite busy. There are nice log cabins just off the road. At a steeper turn, you can run into the field, if the terrain allows, and reach the local hill Cimbál (506 m above sea level), from where there is no view
View of Kozakov
Fortunately, not far from Cimbalom, our hiking trail turns onto a less busy road. After a while, thanks to the clearing, there is quite a nice view of Kozákov
Emergency chapel
After about two and a half kilometers walk from the Sejkor Chapel, there is a chapel in Nouzov.
Descent to Semily
From the chapel in Nouzov you can descend back to Semily along the green or blue tourist route. Modrá leads through the valley of the Jílovecký stream
