Jičín, as the so-called eastern gate to the Bohemian Paradise, is not only a good starting point for hiking, but also for a nice bike trip throughout the eastern Bohemian Paradise. The main goal of this sightseeing trip is the beautiful Podtrosecké valley

View of Jicin and Zebin

From Jičín we set off in the direction of Holín and Prachovské skály (there is a marking of cycle route no. 14 and the red tourist route). We pass Holín and start climbing the hill. Finally, the first views open: first to the Jičín basin and Veliš and then in the direction of Jičín and Zebín. We have the first 4 kilometers behind us

Prachovské sedlo

After a short rest, we will climb another village of Prachov to the flat Prachovské sedlo. It is usually quite busy in the summer, because there are parking lots and one of the favorite starting points to the Prachovské rocks. There is also the opportunity to refresh yourself before the next ride. We are at 6km

View of Jinolické ponds

We leave the concurrence of the tourist route and run through the forest under Prachovské skály. Thanks to the lumberjacks, the view of the Jinolické ponds was created, but it is gradually growing

View of the Shooting Quarry

We continue through Pařezská Lhota with several nice log cabins to the Střelečská hůra massif. We leave the forest and a wide view of Vyskeř, Trosky and the huge Střelečský quarry opens up to us. There are also benches for sitting

Mladějov

Now we have a pretty long descent for a reward. Beware only of the passage through the village of Střeleč, where the turn is pretty good. After a long descent, a shorter ascent to Mladějov, which is one of the tourist starting points to the Podtrosecký valley

Podhůra viewpoint

From Mladějov we follow the direction of Libošovice. We arrive at a nice lookout point on Trosky – Podhůra. Here we already have 15 km from Jicin. If you are here in the late afternoon, you may be lucky with balloons

Pond in Rovno

From Podhůra we drive along the plain to Rovno, where there is a nice descent down. The path will then lead us along a picturesque pond with several sandstone rocks

Road to Podtrosecký valley

From Rovno we will have a short climb and we will reach a crossroads almost on the outskirts of Libošovice (if you need refreshments, it is only a half-kilometer detour to the pub on the square). From here we have a long descent to the Podtrosecký valley. The first sandstone rocks rise around us. We descend to the picturesque Žehrovka valley where snowflakes can be seen in early spring. We arrive at the Věžický pond, where it is usually crowded with tourists. We have 22 km in pedals

The road through the Podtrosecký valley

Now we are waiting for about 5 kilometers through the Podtrosecký valley along the route of a famous tourist trip, see. below. In summer and during late morning to afternoon there is a high frequency of hikers and it is better to avoid this time by bike. In the end, the biggest ascent to Troskovice or below Trosky awaits us, where we leave the route of the sightseeing tour

Újezd pod Troskami

From Troskovice we will have a great descent along the reconstructed narrow road and then a light hike to Újezd pod Troskami with nice rear views of Trosky. Újezd is famous for its large church of St. John the Baptist

View from Březka

From Újezd we set off along the cycle route to Libunce and further on a quite steep hill in the direction of Březka and Jinolice. Right at the top of the hill at the bus stop is a nice view of the Kozakov ridge (36km). From here, the last eight kilometers await us to Jičín around Jinolické ponds, where it is possible to refresh yourself sufficiently in the summer
