Ascent to the second highest mountain in the Vysočina region

Nine Rocks (836 m above sea level) is the highest peak of the Žďár Hills and the second highest in the entire Bohemian-Moravian Highlands after Javořice. You can really get to this rocky peak from all sides. However, the best-known starting points are Herálec, Svratka and Křižánky. We will head to the top from Křižánky in the form of a roughly 9 km long circuit
Chapel in Křižánky
So we start in Křižánky, a historic village on the border of Bohemia and Moravia. The local chapel lies between the green and blue tourist routes, which we will both use today

View of the Kyšperk pond
We set off on a blue tourist route. In a moment we will have a view of the Kyšperk pond. We will return again through the meadows on the horizon

Ostrá skalka (Shepherd) rock tower
The road about a kilometer leads through open countryside before disappearing into the forest. Another kilometer climbs through the forest to the rocks below the Nine Rocks. About 100 meters from the road is a massive White Rock, which falls under the protection of a natural monument. A little further on, right next to the Ostrá skalka road
Hrádek Rock Tower
After another few hundred meters, the comfortable journey ends and the final ascent to the Nine Rocks begins. The first harbinger is the Hrádek rock tower

Stony path to the Nine Rocks
The road is first covered with roots and behind the castle there are no more boulders, so there is no longer a stroller or bicycle

Under the Nine Rocks
Finally we climb onto a plot surrounded by rock towers. Crowds of tourists really accumulate here during the day. The final output is ahead of us

Final ascent to Nine Rocks
The final ascent leads partly up the stone steps, partly up the rock. If you are careful, even a five-year-old child can beat it

View down from the Nine Rocks
View down from the exit path to the „snack“ patch

View from the Nine Rocks
There is also a small railing at the very top, but a small child would easily sink into the depths here, so be careful. The view itself is partially limited and is certainly not one of the best you will come across in Žďárské vrchy

View of Křižánky
We choose the return route a little longer – we descend first along the yellow direction Svratka. After 2.7 km at the Na Brušovci crossroads, we turn green in the direction of Křižánky. After another kilometer, we finally ascend from the forest to open meadows. The descent through the forest itself was not interesting at all

View of the main ridge
We descend and have a view of the main ridge stretching from the Nine Rocks to the east with rocky peaks such as Malínská skála or Dráteničky

Back in Křižánky
The circle closes, we come back to Křižánky along the dam of Kyšperský rybník
