Walk over Khardung la pass
The classic trip to the Khardung la pass (5,359 m above sea level), just above Leh, can be extended by a short ascent to the adjacent Khardung peak (5,615 m above sea level). Count on it, but you can't do without climbing equipment on the top itself
Prayer flags over Khardung la pass
From the pass, climb along the prayer flags eastwards along the ridge. There are only small remnants of glaciers on the surrounding hills.
View of Khardung la pass
On the way out, you can see both the pass and many kilometers of road descending into the Nubra valley
Ascent along the ridge
The ascent along the ridge itself is relatively unpleasant: cracked rock and occasional remnants of ice between the stones. Massive valleys formed by glaciers fall on both sides of the ridge
Game of clouds over Khardung la
Altitude meters are slowly increasing and above the landscape is a classic tunacular theater of clouds and sun
Ascent ridge
The ascent ridge in front of the summit becomes more difficult. From here, it seems that perhaps an easier route would be along the rubble next to the glacier. However, it is poorly boarded from the pass / it lies about 100 meters below it /
Rock pyramids
Since it was an unplanned ascent and I only set off alone in sandals, so in places where the GPS shows 5500m above sea level, I turn it. In addition, I am quite pressed for time to return to Leh. Even so, it was a nice walk, albeit without a summit
