Hiking circuits & Trekking

Petr Liška Wrote 12.02.2013:

In the high mountain area of Khumbu, there are unexpectedly great possibilities for other treks and hiking trails outside the most famous and most common routes leading under Mount Everest. There are a number of scenic and practically unvisited hills and several-day hikes to, for tourists lesser-known, side valleys. The number of climbing activities is not even worth mentioning. BC Everest Trek: The vast majority of people have the Everest area connected only with a trek to its base camp combined with the final ascent to the amazing Kala Patthar viewpoint. This most classic route leads from Lukla through the center of the Namche Bazar, the great monastery of Pangboche to Gorak Shepu. Gokyo Trek: The march to the largest valley in Khumbu – Dudh Koshi to the amazing view of Gokyo Ri and the beautiful glacial lakes is more like an extension of a classic trek than a separate march. Trek through three saddles: it is a far more interesting, but also significantly more challenging variant of the journey under Everest. The classic march expands with other views and valleys. In addition, you will partially avoid the largest crowds walking along the main route. Along the way, three 5,000-strong Renjo la, Cho la and Kongma la saddles await you with amazing views. An ideal option for a more able tourist! Mera trek: Unlike the overcrowded Dudh Koshi valley, there are the previously deserted valleys of Hinku and Hunku right next to the east. Nobody lived here before and the sparse infrastructure is practically only for tourists. This is the route of the so-called Mera trek, usually connected with the ascent to the 6,000-meter mountain Mera. From here you can alternatively continue to Makalu or across the Amphulapcha Pass to Chhukung. This march, and especially the alternative crossings of the 6,000-seat saddle, already require climbing knowledge of the Nangpa la trek: A very abandoned march is the ascent in the direction of the Nangpa la ice saddle directly below the 8,000-meter Cho Oyu. This was the trade route to Tibet. Rolwaling trek: A challenging trek connecting Khumbu with the Rolwaling valley. The jumper is a very dangerous glacier saddle Tesi Lapcha (Taschi Lapcha). Most climbers also associate this with the ascent to the top of Pharchamo.
