On the northeastern tip of the island of Thassos, you will find two „marble“ beaches that are only half a kilometer apart. Saliara (Marble Beach) and Porto Vathy. Both are famous for the incredibly white color of the pebbles, as it is the rubble of the famous Thassos marble. The beaches would be even nicer if their surroundings were not destroyed by mining.
