Kochelsee is a picturesque lake through which the river Loisach flows – the western border of the Bavarian foothills. The northern part of the lake is lowland, to the south there are already mountains with heights of about 1500 meters above sea level. The main starting points for this area are two towns – Kochel am See and Schlendorf. There are several campsites around the lake and swimming opportunities
