The Iron Curtain was built in 1951 to prevent people from escaping to the west. During its existence, it was responsible for at least 390 human lives. In our territory alone, 930 km of this curtain were built out of a total of 7250 km, which divided the West from the East. In Čížov there is a remnant of this iron curtain with Špačkárna – a watchtower. It is thus an example of what a real fence in which there were 10,000 volts looked like.
