The dominant feature of the city of Srinagar is the Hari Parbat hill (1,705m). On its summit stands the massive Hari Parbat Fort (Sometimes also referred to as Durrani Fort). It originally served as the residence of the Mughal rulers. To this day, mainly only the perimeter walls and towers remain. Only remnants of residential palaces remain.
