The picturesque town of Hardegg and its dominant castle of the same name are among the most beautiful places in the entire Thayatal National Park. The castle itself is built on a hill high above the river Dyje. At the same time, it is listed as the northernmost castle in Austria. There are beautiful views of the castle from all sides. Probably the most famous viewpoint is the one located on the other side of the river Dyje, already in the Czech Republic – Hardeggská vyhlídka. Another nice view is from Max-Plateau
