Mae Kok river is one of the major streams that flow through a relatively high mountain range Daen Lao on the border between Burma and Thailand. There are passages,  when it lazily flows through fertile plain with steep canyons to eventually get into Mekong a short way from Chiang Saen. One of its nice canyon passages can be found a short distance from Thaton on the Thai-Burma border.
