The fortress dates from the late 18th century and was built on a strategic trade route along Wadi Ham. This valley was the only natural connection between the Persian Gulf and the east coast, where the emirate of Fujairah is located. Interestingly, until 2009 the fortress was normally inhabited. This fortress offers a tour of the fortress with a guide.
