Gran Canaria - the center of the island

Iconic rock formations and breathtaking views

Rating:

The beautiful center of Gran Canaria offers a truly breathtaking spectacle of volcanic rock formations. The most cult is Roque Nublo (1732 m), the highest peak is Pico de las Nieves (1949 m). We are above the trade wind clouds, so we can see the dominant feature of neighboring Tenerife, the stratovolcano Pico de Teide (3718 m above sea level). The moist, blooming north contrasts sharply with the arid south. Café Cortado is best enjoyed amidst the backdrop of the mountains in Tejeda. continue reading

4.
Gran Canaria - south of the island

By car through the mountainous south

The road leading inland leads us around the old mill, and then we turn off a very narrow asphalt road into the interior of the volcanic torn landscape. We pass several dam reservoirs and through San Bartolomé we return around the blooming aloe vera back to the south coast. continue reading
