Local food

  • Kebabs: The most common local dishes in various ways from mutton or chicken
  • Arabic salad: consisting mostly of cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, onions and spices.
  • Falafel: fried chickpea balls
  • Pita bread: which is eaten almost with everything (a type of wheat bread shaped as pancakes prepared from flour and yeast
  • Hummus: mash or dip of crushed cooked chickpeas mixed with sesame paste, olive oil, garlic, salt and lemon juice.

Local drinks

  • National Beverages: Typical drink is the black tea, which is usually very sweet.
  • Wine: The Jordanian wine is very good though for the rest of the world little known.
  • Beer: In Jordan exist shortly only one microbrewery – Carakale, boiling three kinds of beer specials (Blonde Ale, Ale and Whiskey Mocha Stout)
