Marlboro country

Few who embark on a trip through the parks of the western United States miss the scenic Monument Valley. You will have the most famous views of this „Marlboro country“ from State Highway 163 connecting Kayenta, Arizona and Bluff, Utah. Monument Valley itself lies between the two ages in the Navajo tribe.
View of Agathla Peak
Basically, the first attraction on this road is the view of the rock castle – Agathla Peak (2,164 m above sea level), which looks really very invincible. This peak is of volcanic origin and lies about a kilometer from the road.

Living alone by the road
In the case of isolated buildings in the desert, one only wonders how one lives here at all?

Monument Valley in sight
The road runs in a straight line 20 kilometers away and finally rock monuments appear.
Mitchell Butte Rock Monument
The first monument that is beautifully visible up close from the main road is Mitchell Butte.
The most famous view of Monument Valley
Admission is charged to the center of Monument Valley – beware of the national park card, as the whole area is in the Navajo Indians.
West Mitten Butte
Probably the most famous peak here is the West Mitten Butte.
Where now?
If you have more time, it is definitely worth devoting at least a day to the local region. You can get far into the interior of these interesting mountains on gravel paths.
East Mitten and Merrick Butte
The view is amazing, but the huge hotel and the hustle and bustle behind you reduces the romance a bit. AND
Navajo
From Monument Valley, you can continue north to Utah for other beautiful parks, such as the Goosenecks.
