A trip to the most beautiful beach in the east of Kefalonia

The most beautiful beach in the east of the island of Kefalonia is certainly Antisamos, unfortunately it is also the most commercial beach on the whole island. You can find it in a magical bay not far from the town of Sami.
First view of Antisamos beach
From the town of Sami, take the road heading north. The road rises to a height of almost 150 meters above sea level and then gradually descends to the other side of the peninsula. Along the way, it is possible to turn onto a narrow road leading to the ruins of the castle – Paliokastro, from where there is an interesting view of Sami and even further to the ruins of the monastery of Agio Fanentes (a good tip for tourists). The beautiful green hills above the beach will certainly take your breath away – as if you were not even in Greece, but somewhere in the tropical part of the world

View of Ithaca
From the vantage point, you can also see the island of Ithaca, just a few kilometers away.

On the beach of Antisamos
The west beach has a really amazing color thanks to the tiny white pebbles. The further east you go, the bigger the pebbles. You can either park in large parking lots near individual taverns, where you then have to pay for sunbeds with umbrellas, or find a place where it is possible and go to the worse eastern part of the beach, which is not organized.

Path to the beach viewpoint
Antisamos beach is undoubtedly beautiful, but what bothers most visitors is too much commercialism. Sunbeds almost by the water, etc. Anyway, if you want a beautiful view, go to the rocks at the western end of the beach, right next to the pier from where the yellow submarine departs.

Skalky and the eastern end of the beach
Visitors to Antisamos go diving at the rocks. We climb higher up them to finally get a beautiful view of the beach

The view from the beginning of the ascent
View of the beach from the west end. This view is enough for most, it is right from the first rock, but we will continue further. The ascent is not difficult.

Beach view
On the way up, you can see different views of the beach, which are definitely worth the effort.

East end of the beach
If you go east, the people decrease, but the beach gets worse – entering the water, etc.

The eastern end of Antisamos
The east end is really quiet now

Old olive trees
Before the beginning of tourism, only olive trees grew here.

A great tip for tourists with stamina
From the eastern part of the beach, a hiking trail starts across the mountains to the deserted Koutsopia beach. Ideal for the off-season or for tourists with stamina
