Tour of Berchtold Castle
A pleasant trip for the whole family
The first mention of the local manor house dates back to 1388, when it was owned by Vavřinec of Vidovice. It underwent significant reconstruction in 1904. It is now privately owned. The new owners carried out a reconstruction, rebuilt the chateau into a hotel, arranged sports facilities there and enlivened the park with miniatures of castles and chateaux. The castle has its name from the family that lived here (the Berchtolds) and whose coat of arms was found here during repairs.
Castle tour
Although a hotel has been set up in the chateau, it is possible to go on a tour. The tour will take us to the hotel, restaurant, lounges and also to the balcony overlooking the garden. During the tour we learn historical data and information about the current owners.
Entrance to the park
We enter the park through the gate only after saying the „secret code“, which proves that we have a ticket :)
A sad event
A small cross in the park reminds us of the murder of Count Otokar Berchtold, who was killed in 1918 when he was returning from a hunt.

But there is an entrance to the underground shelter.
Miniatures of castles and chateaux
The park is dotted with miniatures of castles, chateaux and other monuments and attractions. Here we can see tiny Karlštejn, Trosky, Červená Lhota, Říp, Kost, Humprecht, the square in Telč, the village of Holašovice, or the picturesque building of the railway station in Střížovice in South Bohemia :)
Hell
If we continue through the park, we will find an entrance to dark spaces. It's an entrance to hell and literally :)
The original state of the castle
In the park you will also meet photographs documenting the condition of the castle in which it was acquired by the current owners. It can be seen that they were literally a salvation for the castle.
