From Kamenné Přívoz to Pikovice, an attractive tourist route of approximately 9 kilometers runs along the left bank of the Sázava. It leads along a groomed forest path, but in places there are more challenging rocky or muddy sections. It is led along the side of the rocks above the river and offers nice views of the river and the surrounding area.

The path begins at the road bridge in the village of Kamenný Přívoz. From the bridge we can see the expanded weir, which paddlers usually pass through the middle.

Wild stretch of river

The flow of the Sázava is quite rapid in the section to Pikovice and is therefore a popular destination for paddlers.

Stone viaduct

When viewed from the Žampašská lookout, the granite bridge with seven arches and a span of 12 meters attracts attention on the opposite bank, which is the highest stone railway bridge in the Czech Republic. The bridge reaches a height of 41.73 meters and its total length is 109 meters. It is built in an arch with a radius of 180 meters, and the first train passed through it on May 1, 1900.

Rais's Prospect

The viewpoint is named after the writer Karl Václav Rais, who visited these places. There is a shelter right next to the lookout where you can rest or hide from bad weather.

The lookout is named after Josef Kliment, who worked as an employee of the Czech Tourist Club and wrote several guidebooks. It has a beautiful view down to the river canyon.

Cottage settlements

Already in the 1920s, Sázava became a popular destination for tramps, who called Sázava the „Golden River“. They gradually built huts here and tramp settlements were created. These persist to this day. For example, this is the settlement „Valley of the Sun“.

On the opposite bank there is a characteristic rock formation „Pikovická jehla“. This rock tower rises 20 meters high just next to the railway line and is a popular destination for rock climbers. A wooden cross can be seen on its top at a height of 40 meters above the river level.

Commemorative plaques

Before entering Pikovice, there are two commemorative plaques on the rock. The first reminds that the trail was built by the Club of Czechoslovak Tourists between 1914 and 1924. The second plaque and cross from 1896 are in memory of the drowned rowers.

Pikovice

The trail ends at the pedestrian bridge in Pikovice, which allows you to go to the Petrov u Prahy railway station. From the bridge, it is possible to see the last steep section of the river before entering the Vltava, where the swelling of the Vrané dam reservoir is already visible. A popular boating route also ends at the bridge.
