The view of the Vltava from where Šemík certainly did not jump
About 8 km east of the former royal upper town of Nový Knín, above the Vltava there is a place with an interesting view of the river. The viewpoint is located high above the level of the Slapy Reservoir and is not very popular due to the remoteness of the place.
Rocky view of the Vltava
The Šemík's Jump (located at 334 m above sea level) directly above the rocks of the Vltava Canyon. You can sit on a comfortable bench and enjoy a nice view of the romantic landscape of the Middle Vltava.
Šemík's jump
We did not manage to find out how the name of the prospect came about, because the legendary Šemík certainly did not jump from there. He was glad when he made his way to Neumětel after jumping from Vyšehrad. Apparently the name is related to herds of horses that graze all around and which have become an integral part of these deserted parts.
Živohošť Bridge
From the viewpoint, you can see the Živohošť Bridge, which arches on four concrete pillars at a height of about 20 meters above the dam.
The road to the lookout
The road to the lookout is marked by a green tourist sign leading from Křeničná to Malčany. The trail is interestingly cut into the slopes above the river valley. With plenty of time, it is worth visiting the famous horse farm in Malčany, where there is also the possibility of refreshments.
