A beautiful, undemanding 8 km long walk near Prague is a walking trail lining the Konopišť brook. The journey begins at the Konopiště chateau and ends in Poříčí nad Sázavou. From here you can take the Posázavský pacifik train through the beautiful landscape around the riverbed to Prague. The journey will take more time, but there is something to enjoy.

Konopiště Castle

The beginning of the journey is at the beautiful romantic castle Konopiště near Benešov. You can start the trip by visiting one of the circuits in the chateau, whose current appearance was imprinted by František Ferdinand d'Este. Inside you will find period interiors and countless hunting trophies.

The castle is really large, so even with repeated visits, you can choose from new circuits that you have not seen before. František Ferdinand d´Este kept truly magnificent objects here. His collections of armaments and hunting trophies are also known from tropical destinations.

Konopiště Castle Garden

There are beautiful gardens around the Konopiště chateau. Especially in spring, when everything blooms, it's beautiful here. You will find large rhododendron bushes, a rose garden, or whole meadows of forget-me-nots and much more.

Your arrival through the castle garden will not be unnoticed by the locals, the beautiful peacocks. Their call spreads throughout the garden. They are not the only animal inhabitants. If you are lucky, you will find local bears that are bred right here in the castle moat.

Rhododendrons in Konopiště

The fluffy, fragrant rhododendron bushes are unmissable in the castle garden. The scenery that lends the castle gives it the true romantic look.

Game reserve

In the castle you will find directly opposite the restaurant and the field full of sika deer and fallow deer. They are used to visitors and they are fed grass over the fence. They make a pleasant distraction not only for children.

Konopiště pond

In front of the castle there is a large pond, around which there is a pleasant path for a walk or bike ride for children. The permanent inhabitants are ducks, swans and other waterfowl.

Konopišťský stream

When you get enough of the views of the castle and its surroundings, you can go for an 8 km long walk along the Konopišť brook. The path starts behind the car park and is easy to find, following the red hiking trail all the time. The path leads through a beautiful landscape full of greenery, you pass ponds, various types of forests.

History connected with nature

Dense forests around the stream hide many interesting places. Here you will find traces of history, whether in the form of a mossy stone bridge or a scout settlement such as the Moon Valley, through which the trail passes. Here you will find beautiful wooden historic log cabins and a peaceful life surrounded by nature.

Poříčí nad Sázavu

The end of our walk is in Poříčí nad Sázavou, we are interested in the church of St. Peter and Paul, which has preserved its Gothic appearance from the 12th century. From here, the so-called Posázavský pacifik train runs, which will take you along a beautiful road along the Sázava to Prague.
