Whiskey is an integral part of Scotland. Its origins date back to the 15th century, where it was cooked in monasteries. Some sources state that whiskey came to the island from Ireland in the 6th century. Due to high burning taxes, black distilleries began to emerge. A huge number of these distilleries have been preserved in Scotland, and the „Scottish“ has thus become a sought-after assortment and recognized by many as the best in the world. Scotch whiskey has strict production rules and is divided into several types.

Where the best whiskey is born

Whiskey is an integral part of Scotland. Its origins date back to the 15th century, where it was cooked in monasteries. Some sources state that whiskey came to the island from Ireland in the 6th century. Due to high burning taxes, black distilleries began to emerge. A huge number of these distilleries have been preserved in Scotland, and the „Scottish“ has thus become a sought-after assortment and recognized by many as the best in the world. Scotch whiskey has strict production rules and is divided into several types. Its primary and most important component is water, and it has clear rules. It should be out of the heath and flow through the birch roots, giving the whiskey a clear aroma, color and taste. It is no secret that distilleries buy land in the area to ensure safety and avoid water contamination. The second ingredient is now used to burn barley whiskey. After the production process, the whiskey is aged in oak barrels, which are always used. For example, after Burbon, Sherry, Port wine, or Cabernet and Rum, so it is possible to get whiskey with various attributes. The division of whiskey for us is probably the most famous is Single Malt and Blended Malt (Blended) and others. We probably find ourselves most often with the name Blended Malt (Blended) – it is a mixture of at least two Single Maltes, but it is often much more Single Malt from different distilleries. Single Malt – comes from a specific distillery and does not mix with other Single Malt, this whiskey is also priced elsewhere and there are differences in the taste, which even the likes know. Furthermore, whiskey is divided according to destinations. We are in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, which is characterized by numerous forests and moors. So we are in an area professionally called Speyside, which is divided according to towns and villages. In this park, there is a museum of Speyside, ie regional distilleries. Along the way, one meets many of them. We visited the largest distillery in Scotland – Glenfiddich, which is also one of the world's TOP whiskeys. We most often meet Grant's whiskey named after the founder, but it could be said that it is the starting line, as it is Blended Malt. Then we visited the oldest registered distillery in Scotland, Glenlivet. In each distillery it is possible to buy or taste their brand and get to know what is really good whiskey.

Drinking may make your head spin

More than one person could get confused by the broom. It is possible to find fine whiskey to coarse whiskey. It is not a problem to come across whiskey in the range of 20–70%

Pleasant environment

We have always been in a pleasant environment, even inside, where we are tasting in a pleasant environment and the sommelier will be happy to recommend or even say what tastes to look for in it.
