A small town known for its famous native

About 4.5 km north-northwest of Prachatice. Situated on the Blanica River, this small historic town is famous for being the birthplace of Master Jan Hus. A major tourist attraction is the immaculately maintained birthplace of this Roman Catholic priest, medieval religious thinker, university teacher, reformer and preacher.
The historic core of the city has been an urban conservation area since 2003.
Birthplace of Master Jan Hus
In the middle of the town there is a townhouse with the descriptive number 36. According to tradition, the priest and preacher Jan Hus was born around 1370. The house, together with the neighboring house no. 37, has been protected as a cultural monument since 1963 and as a national cultural monument since 1978.

History of the house
The first written record from 1633 states that the inhabitants of Husinac show Hus's birthplace, from which they cut off splinters to relieve toothache. It is also mentioned in the 18th century that the house is visited and, according to tradition, shown as Hus' birthplace. After the end of World War II, the building was nationalized. In 1952, the Memorial of Master Jan Hus was opened in the house. In 1991, the municipal office modified the exhibition of ideological distortions and expanded it with a memorial hall. In 2010, the building was acquired by the Czechoslovak Hussite Church under its administration on the basis of a fifty-year lease.

Master Jan Hus Center
The Czechoslovak Hussite Church carried out a complete reconstruction of the premises in 2014–2015 with the support of the state. The Master Jan Hus Center was opened in 20151 on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the Master's burning at the stake. It includes two existing town houses (No. 36 and 37) and serves mainly for cultural and educational purposes.

Exposure
The Master Jan Hus Center includes an exhibition inside the houses, which is dedicated to the time, life, work, tradition and legacy of the Czech reformer. Part of the exhibitions is also dedicated to the predecessors and followers of Jan Hus.
