The last brick dam built in Czechoslovakia

About 2.5 km north of the town of Prachatice is the Husinec reservoir. The reservoir was built on the Blanice River in 1934–1939 as flood protection and as a water reservoir for the town of Prachatice.
History
The idea of building a dam on the Blanice River was born at the beginning of the 20th century. The main impetus was the need for flood protection and ensuring sufficient water for industrial enterprises in Prachatice and the surrounding area. The design of the reservoir began in the 1930s and the construction itself took place during the difficult war years of 1935 to 1939. It was started on July 2, 1934. The construction of the dam was interrupted when the Sudetenland was occupied, and was therefore not completed until 1939.

Dam
The dam is made of masonry, arched against the water. Its southern side is built of quarry stone and its face is made of row masonry. The dam is 34 m high, its length at the crown is 197 m and a third-class road 5 meters wide runs along it.

Hydroelectric power plant
The waterworks also include a small hydroelectric power plant with a Kaplan turbine with an output of 630 kW.

Pond
The 60-hectare reservoir lake, in addition to flood protection, primarily serves as a drinking water reservoir for the town of Prachatice.
