To the largest sandstone rock gate
The Pravčická Gate is located in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park and is the largest sandstone rock gate in Europe. Its height is 16 meters and is 26 meters wide. The Pravčická gate is very photogenic and some of the most beautiful photographs are taken here and in the vicinity. In the past, the trip to the Pravčická Gate was one of the first hiking trails in the Czech Republic and was covered by the Czech Tourist Club.
Starting point Mezní Louka
Our hiking trail starts in the village of Mezní Louka, where there are several parking lots, hotels and restaurants. We will also find an information center here. Expect paid parking.
For a few tens of minutes we come across beautiful magnificent sandstone rock overhangs.
Rocks all along the route
The route is lined with rocks all the way, so there is still something to see
About halfway along the route to the Pravčická Gate, a beautiful view of a valley full of forests and beautiful nature appears.
There are several viewpoints along the route, so it is ideal for relaxing and gaining strength.

View of the Pravčická gate
The view of the Pravčická gate is reached by a set of stairs and railings. The view is wonderful.
Prospects for other rock formations
The Pravčice Gate is not all you can look at. There are other massive rocks all around.
Pines melting from the rocks
Also interesting are the ubiquitous pines, which often grow in places where you would not really expect it.
View of the viewpoint
Here is a view of the viewpoint, from where visitors look at the Pravčická bar.
View of the hotel with restaurant
The architecture of the building under the Pravšická Gate is also very charming.
From the Pravčická gate we can decide to go further towards the town of Hřensko and then then take a bus back to the starting point or return along the same way back to Mezní Louka. Another possible route is from Hřensko to take a boat trip towards Mezní Louka. But this is a longer route for the whole day.
