To the largest sandstone rock gate

The Pravčická Gate is located in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park and is the largest sandstone rock gate in Europe. Its height is 16 meters and is 26 meters wide. The Pravčická gate is very photogenic and some of the most beautiful photographs are taken here and in the vicinity. In the past, the trip to the Pravčická Gate was one of the first hiking trails in the Czech Republic and was covered by the Czech Tourist Club.
Starting point Mezní Louka
Our hiking trail starts in the village of Mezní Louka, where there are several parking lots, hotels and restaurants. We will also find an information center here. Expect paid parking.

For a few tens of minutes we come across beautiful magnificent sandstone rock overhangs.

The route is lined with rocks all the way, so there is still something to see

Valley view
About halfway along the route to the Pravčická Gate, a beautiful view of a valley full of forests and beautiful nature appears.

Prospects
There are several viewpoints along the route, so it is ideal for relaxing and gaining strength.

Road to Pravčická gate
Before we get under the Pravčická gate itself, we have to go out a few serpentines until we reach the entrance, which is paid and only until 18:00.

Admission costs 75, -CZK / person (3, -Eur / person) and Children / 6–14 years / students and pensioners 25, -CZK / person (1, -Eur / person) and opening hours are daily 10:00 – 18: 00 hours, November – March Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 10 am – 4 pm, 12/26/2013 – 1/1/2014 daily 10 am – 4 pm.

Restaurants and snacks
Right behind the entrance you can have a snack, buy some souvenirs or just have a beer or kofola on the terrace directly under the stone bridge.

Prospects for other rock formations
The Pravčice Gate is not all you can look at. There are other massive rocks all around.

Also interesting are the ubiquitous pines, which often grow in places where you would not really expect it.

Return
From the Pravčická gate we can decide to go further towards the town of Hřensko and then then take a bus back to the starting point or return along the same way back to Mezní Louka. Another possible route is from Hřensko to take a boat trip towards Mezní Louka. But this is a longer route for the whole day.
