Most visitors to Súľov Rocks set out for this beautiful area from Súľov in the southwest. If you want to go to the rocks a little differently – enjoy the hike with only a minimum of other tourists and have views of Fatra, be sure to try Lietavská Závadka as a starting point. From here you go in the direction of Roháč, which lies just a short distance from the classic rock circuit

The beginning of the tour in Lietavská Závadka

The start of the tour is in Lietavská Závadka. Basically at the very end of the road (8 kilometers from the main road leading through the valley of the river Rajčanka to Žilina). It is best to park here at the local church. A small parking lot is right next to it, above it or along the road.

On the way to sitting

A yellow marked hiking trail leads from the church. The path leads slightly upwards towards the forest. If the meadow is dry and mown, you can take a shortcut around the sitting area you see on the horizon.

View of Klak and Fatran ridge

As the meters increase, the views from the meadow become more and more beautiful. In front of us rises the ridge of Malá Fatra with a curved peak Klaka.

View of Lietavský Castle

The ruins of Lietava Castle can also be seen beautifully from here

View of Žilina

The path continues through the forest. In places it is broken by logging machines. We are still climbing up towards the top of Roháč. Just before the road climbs to the top ridge, an interesting view of Žilina, the newly built highway and Velký Rozsutec on the horizon opens over the clearings.

Roháče Peak (803m)

Roháče Peak (803m)

Once you reach the ridge, the ascent is more comfortable. Another ruin can be seen through the branches – Hričov Castle, but it is not for photography. Finally we reach the highest point of this terra – Roháče (803n nm). That, however, offers no view

White Rock Viewpoint

A short distance below Roháč, the footpath turns to the Biela skala lookout point (a walk of about 250 meters in one direction). The view is not completely bad, but compared to others in Sulovské skaly it is not so nice

Roháč Viewpoint

We return back and after a while we come to a crossroads of hiking trails. If we want to return to Lietavská Závadka in another way, we can continue from there along the green and then along the blue tourist path. Directly above the crossroads is perhaps the most beautiful view in the whole rocks. At the very top is a large rock, where two adults can lie down next to each other. The advantage is that we are still about 300 meters from the main circuit through the rocks, so there are not so many visitors

Panorama from the Roháč viewpoint

The panorama from the Roháč viewpoint is absolutely amazing – deep below you lies the Sulovská valley surrounded by two ridges of rocks

In front of us you can also see the rocks on which there are small remnants of Sulov Castle, there we will go subsequently
