Mustang trek 7: The last stage of return part of Mustang trek, which will examine the trekker with all the ascents and descents to/from mountain passes. The start in Jhaite is at 3820 m asl and the destination Samar is at 3620 m asl. But the pass Yamda La is at the height of 4010 meters and a height profile of the journey is very variable.
 

Monsoon over Mustang

The path branches of at Jhaite, we choose the direction to Chhunggar. Until pass Tamagaon (3 710 m asl) it is a relaxing descent. Southern horizon is consistent with the annual monsoon period.

Among the mountain passes

Two consecutive mountain passes warm us nicely: Syangboche La (3 850 m asl) and Yamda La (4 010 m asl).

The landscape is full of side valleys and canyons. All of them head to the „main axis“ of Mustang – Kali Gandaki river valley.

Surroundings of Samar

After managing another mountain pass Bhena La (3 830 m) is in sight the surroundings of Samar – the destination of today's stage.

Chortens

Steep descent to the river Jhuwa Khola and subsequent ascent brings us to the edge of Samar. At the entrance to the village we are welcomed by three colorful chortens.

Samar

We devote an hour and a half for exploring the place where we will spend the night today. According to the map, there should be a nice view of peaks Nilgiri and Annapurnas. But monsoon is ruthless this time and clouds hide the Himalayan giants. Well, every day is not a feast.
