Hike Tsarang - Jhaite

The way from Tsarang (3 560 m asl) rises without interruption by 300 vertical meters up to the pass Chingell La (3 870 m asl). But it is relatively comfortable ascent along wide carriage path. In August, is the south shrouded in monsoon clouds.

Where water flows, there is also life. People have created oasis here bringing living into the mountains.

From the pass Chingell La (3 870 m asl) the pathway significantly drops in numerous hairpin bends to the village Ghemi (3 510 m asl). You can also choose appropriately steeper shortcut. Under typical rock formations with caves crouch Buddhist buildings.

Even before Ghemi we pass one of the most recognizable buildings in the Upper Mustang – the longest mani wall.

After resting in Ghemi (where we slept before the stage to Ghar Gumba) we steeply ascent to the pass Ghemi La (3 760 m asl). Before us is then further ascent up to a height of four kilometers. Today it is the whole day's walk.

From the pass Nyi La (4 020 m asl) it is only a short descent to Jhaite. Late afternoon clears the sky and before us opens perhaps the most beautiful scenery of the trek. Annapurnas are at your fingertips: on the right in front Tilicho peak (7 134 m asl), in the middle Annapurna I (8 091 m asl) and at the very left from this side indistinctive Khangshar Kang.

Jhaite is very small settlement. That makes it pleasant to be here and enjoy the evening atmosphere.

The low sun creates the play of light and shadows on the surrounding mountains.

Sunset is fast here. Clouds turn into red tones in a few minutes and Himalayan giants will be swallowed by darkness in a while.
