Only about 1.5 km apart lie two completely different worlds – Ko Lipe Island is small, flat, full of beaches and tourists, largely built up. In contrast, Ko Adang is large (roughly 15 times larger than Ko Lipe), more mountainous, and has only one resort and one official campsite. It is also one of the bases of Tarutao National Park. So, if you want to diversify your stay on Ko Lipe, you should definitely take at least a half-day trip to Ko Adang.

Departure from Ko Lipe Island

There are frequent boat taxis between Ko Lipe and Ko Adang but most of them are for resort guests on Ko Adang. But just walk along the Sunrise Beaches and you will definitely find a private boat taxi to Ko Adang. What is quite reasonable is to arrange a time for the return departure from Ko Adang. It sails with the local tail boats for approximately 8 passengers.

Corals under the sea

The sea here is quite shallow, so tail boaties with a small draft are the ideal means of transport here. The northern tip of the island of Ko Lipe, with the best swimming, can also be seen nicely from here.

Ko Adang ahead

Now we have to cross the sea strait that separates the two islands from each other. It is roughly 1.5 km, which is only a few minutes for a boat, including maneuvering.

Just before arriving at Ko Adang

The ship first sails to the main beach. A barren rock escarpment rises above it, the only place without lush vegetation. There is even a hiking trail leading to the top of the rock.

Pier at Ko Adang

After about 10 minutes of travel, we are there. On the island of Ko Adang. This is the main port and main beach of the island.

The main beach on Ko Adang

The main beach is vast and, unlike the island of Ko Lipe, there are only a minimum of visitors.

Cruise along the coast of Ko Adang

We continue sailing to the second beach, which lies in front of the Adang Island Resort. The beaches are about 1.2 km apart and a hiking trail runs inland between them.

Beach at Ko Adang Resort

We slowly sail to the second beach, which is a bit smaller but very beautiful.

On the beach at the resort

The beach is basically as empty as the main beach of the island. There are only tail boats to transport guests from the resort to Ko Lipe.
