Piz Trovat is one of the three peaks easily accessible from the Diavolezza cable car station. Unlike the really easy Sass Queder, you need your hands now and then, but it's still a hiking hike. The views from the top are absolutely amazing – the highest peaks of the Bernina mountain range are right in the palm of your hand.

Views at the beginning of the hike

The beginning of the journey to Piz Trovat is the same as to the lighter Sass Queder. Only just before the start of the „climb“ to Sass Queder, our path separates and traverses the slope to the saddle between Piz Trovat and Sass Queder. The views are of the dominant peak of Piz Bernina.

View of Piz Trovat

From this point of view, you can see the road leading to the wide saddle of the Piz Trovat pyramid rising only less than 150 meters above it.

Piz Trovat from the saddle

The Piz Trovat looks completely different from the saddle. The ascent is then on a stony slope. Be especially careful here if there are more people on the road – especially above you. There is no problem to kick the stone downwards!

A look back at Diavolezza

After a while, the view back to the beginning of our route opens – the top station of the Diavolezza cable car.

From the saddle you can see „into the depths“ to the Bernina Pass.

Final ascent to Piz Trovat

Now we are waiting for the final scree climb to the top. There are a few worse sections where the path gets lost between stones, but nothing so difficult that an ordinary tourist would not be able to climb it. The spherical Sass Queder can be seen nicely below us

Lower lookout peak

If you want to take a panoramic photo of the entire glacier, you have to climb to a lower peak. Be careful not to fall down here.
