By cable car to a height of 3,303 meters above sea level

The Corvatsch cable car will take you up to a dizzying height of 3,303 meters above sea level, and from the famous observation deck you will have a beautiful view (in the south-east direction) of the still heavily glaciated Bernina massif. The starting point is the town of Surlej. Right next to the cable car is a large underground garage (paid) where you can leave your car before the trip. The intermediate station Murtel awaits you, from where several hiking trails lead.
Lower station in Surlej
The starting point is Surlej, which is picturesquely situated right above two beautiful lakes. In addition, the small castle of Crap da Sass, located by the road in Silvaplana, is nearby. Take into account that the cable car is a gondola with service, so it goes up to Murtel once every 20 minutes.

View of Lake Lej da Silvaplana
All the way up there is a beautiful view of the picturesque lake Silvaplana. Behind the lake rises Piz Polaschin (3013 m), which is also worth the hike, because from there you can see the lake from the other side.

A little below Murtel
We are slowly approaching the intermediate station Murtel. Below us are cows in the mountain meadows. From here you can see another nice lookout peak – Piz Albana (3100 m). A road leads to it directly from the town of Silvaplana

Intermediate station Murtel (2,700m)
We change at the Murtel station. Some go on hiking trails from there. A proper rock wall rises in front of us. We leave the mountain meadows and get to the world of high mountains.

A pillar on a rocky promontory
Murtel is already far below us and we are crossing a rocky headland

View of the Fuorcla Surlej pass
From the cable car you can see one of the tourist destinations – the Fuorcla Surlej pass (2,750m), where there is also a restaurant and a picturesque lake.

Remains of a glacier
We finally pass the first remnants of the glacier.

Just below the top
We are already approaching the upper station of the cable car and the views are really amazing. In the distance we can see the Engadin in all its beauty.
